Love, Death + Robots Volume 4 Returns on Netflix

The award-winning animated anthology series Love, Death + Robots returns to Netflix for its fourth volume on May 15. The new season includes ten episodes, each offering a self-contained story blending science fiction, fantasy, horror, and dark comedy.

With David Fincher and Tim Miller continuing as executive producers, and Jennifer Yuh Nelson back as supervising director, Volume 4 promises to maintain the series’ reputation for boundary-pushing storytelling and animation.

What to Expect from Volume 4

The latest volume dives back into imaginative worlds and thought-provoking themes, showcasing a range of artistic styles and narrative tones.

Can’t Stop

Directed by David Fincher, this episode is a stylized reimagining of the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ 2003 concert at Slane Castle. The band members appear as string puppets in a surreal, animated tribute that blends music and visual experimentation.

Close Encounters of the Mini Kind

Directed by Robert Bisi and Andy Lyon, this episode brings a humorous take on classic alien invasion tropes. A miniature extraterrestrial arrival sets off a chaotic chain of events, highlighting humanity’s tendency to misunderstand the unknown.

Spider Rose

Set in the same cyberpunk universe as the Volume 3 episode “Swarm,” Spider Rose follows a grieving Mechanist on a distant asteroid mining colony. Driven by the loss of her partner, she tracks down the assassin responsible, uncovering a deeper conspiracy in the process.

400 Boys

Inspired by a graphic novel by Peter Chung, this episode explores a dystopian society where a mysterious serum called The Seed promises to reshape humanity. A rebellion brews among 400 genetically enhanced teenagers, raising questions about control, identity, and evolution.

Additional Episodes

Other stories in Volume 4 include tales of malfunctioning robots, speculative future technology, and dystopian survival. Each episode continues the show’s tradition of pairing innovative animation with striking, often unsettling storytelling.

Cast of Love, Death + Robots Volume 4

Volume 4 of Love, Death + Robots brings together a diverse mix of talent from across entertainment, including internet stars, acclaimed voice actors, comedians, and rock legends.

MrBeast Joins the Cast

Jimmy Donaldson, widely known as MrBeast, lends his voice to a villainous game show host in the episode The Screaming of the Tyrannosaur. Known for his massively popular YouTube stunts and philanthropic giveaways, MrBeast now brings his larger-than-life presence to the animated anthology in a darkly comedic role.

The 27-year-old content creator is currently the most-subscribed YouTuber with 393 million subscribers and also ranks among the top creators on TikTok. He has also expanded into the food industry with ventures like MrBeast Burger and snack brands such as Feastables.

Emily O’Brien Returns as Cyberpunk Mechanist

British actress Emily O’Brien reprises her role in the series, voicing a Mechanist in the episode Spider Rose. Known for her work in The Young and the Restless and Days of Our Lives, O’Brien has also voiced characters in numerous video games, including Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series and Gotham Knights.

Her return adds depth and familiarity to the cyberpunk narrative introduced in earlier seasons.

Chris Parnell as the Cat

Chris Parnell returns to voice the fan-favorite feline in The Other Large Thing. The American comedian and actor is widely recognized for his work on Saturday Night Live, Rick and Morty, and 30 Rock. His ongoing presence in the anthology adds a comedic thread through multiple volumes.

Red Hot Chili Peppers as Puppets

The legendary rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers appear in animated puppet form in the episode Can’t Stop. All four band members—Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith, and John Frusciante—voice their puppet counterparts in a stylized retelling of their iconic 2003 performance at Slane Castle.

With over 120 million records sold and a legacy of Grammy Awards and global hits, their participation marks one of the most unexpected and creative moments of the season.

A Continuing Legacy

Since its debut in 2019, Love, Death + Robots has been celebrated for its bold vision and eclectic approach to genre storytelling. With each volume, the series introduces new creators, styles, and ideas, and Volume 4 looks to build on that legacy with fresh and provocative content.
